Todd Powell joined RefleXion in May 2017 as president, chief executive officer and a member of its board of directors, bringing 29 years of experience in leading global organizations and developing innovative products in cancer care. Before joining RefleXion, Powell spent 11 years at Elekta AB, a world leader in radiation oncology solutions, where he held senior executive roles of increasing responsibility, most recently as executive vice president of Comprehensive Oncology Solutions, where he led a business unit with more than $1 billion in revenue and 1,200 employees across North America, Europe and Asia. Prior to this, Powell served as president and CEO for IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc. His career also includes senior executive and management positions at IMPAC and Varian Medical Systems. Powell received a Bachelor of Applied Science, Physics, and Mathematics from California State University, Chico, and he completed the Executive Innovation and Leadership Programs at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Samuel Mazin, Ph.D.

Sam Mazin, Ph.D., co-founded RefleXion Medical in 2009, where he is the inventor of the company’s core technology. While a postdoctoral researcher in Radiology at Stanford University, Dr. Mazin was selected by the Kauffman Foundation as one of 13 postdocs in the nation to commercialize promising innovations. His prior research at Stanford was focused on the design of a novel X-ray computed tomography (CT) system, resulting in several journal papers and a patent, as well as the Joel Drillings Award from the American Heart Association (AHA). His work on a PET-based algorithm received the prestigious Cum Laude award from the SPIE international medical imaging society. He has been invited to speak about biology-guided radiotherapy by cancer centers worldwide. Dr. Mazin received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and he holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
Philip J. Aulson II
Chief Operating Officer
Phil Aulson joined RefleXion in June 2016 as director of new product introduction and was promoted to vice president of operations and service in February 2019. In July 2023, he was promoted to senior vice president of operations and service, where he and his organization continue to keep the customer and their patients at the forefront while driving industry-leading output with the manufacture, installation, acceptance, and uptime of RefleXion’s X1 platform and SCINTIX technology. His previous experience includes over 20 years of leading medical device manufacturing operations for both Fortune 500 and startup organizations. Before joining RefleXion, Aulson was vice president of operations at Oraya Therapeutics. He has also held senior management positions at Insound Medical, Hansen Medical, Boston Scientific, Teleflex Medical and Depuy/Johnson & Johnson. Aulson received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and his MBA from Babson College.
Steven Schoch
Chief Financial Officer
Steven Schoch joined RefleXion in November 2024 as chief financial officer, bringing nearly 30 years of experience in financial and operational management. Before RefleXion, Schoch served as chief operating officer and financial officer at FLYR, Inc., a travel technology company, where he overhauled the global business and financial infrastructure across the US and numerous international subsidiaries. Before FLYR, Schoch was chief financial officer at 23andMe, responsible for a $100M turnaround in the annual operating cash flow of the business. While in that position, he spearheaded a nearly $1 billion raise of new equity capital, including the 2021 IPO of the company. Previously, Schoch was chief executive officer and chief financial officer of Miramax, where he managed the company’s rebuilding to realize a 3x return on behalf of the original private equity investors upon the sale of the company. Schoch also held multiple executive roles at Amgen, where he revamped the company’s financial and operational infrastructure and directed global sales forecasting for $15 billion in annual sales. Schoch has served as a board member of publicly listed companies and is currently a Board member and Audit Committee Chair of Zura Bio, Ltd., a clinical-stage biotechnology company. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at Tufts University and an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
Shervin 'Sean' Shirvani, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer
Shervin ‘Sean’ Shirvani, M.D., joined RefleXion as vice president of medical affairs in July 2018 and was promoted to senior vice president of clinical and medical affairs in August 2019. In December 2020, Dr. Shirvani was promoted to chief medical officer. He contributes over 15 years of clinical and industry experience, including as a faculty radiation oncologist and medical director at MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Arizona affiliate. Dr. Shirvani previously served as a physician executive for Banner Medical Group, one of the nation’s largest multi-specialty groups, where he oversaw operations for multiple specialties, including medical oncology. He also led the design and implementation of a value-based, alternative payment insurance product for cancer care for the country’s fifth largest metropolitan area. Dr. Shirvani has authored numerous publications, national practice guidelines, and book chapters on stereotactic radiotherapy and healthcare economics. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Rice University. He received his M.D. from Duke University and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Texas, Houston. He is dual board-certified after completing residencies in Internal Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center and Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Judy Bartlett-Roberto
Senior Vice President of Marketing
Judy Bartlett-Roberto joined RefleXion in September 2018 as vice president of marketing, bringing 25 years of experience in the medical device industry with a focus on commercializing disruptive technologies. She was promoted to senior vice president in May 2025. Throughout her career, she has led marketing teams that launched technologies transforming standards of care in electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, robotics and ophthalmology. Before joining RefleXion, she was vice president of marketing at Optovue, a precision ophthalmic imaging company. She previously spent 11 years as an independent consultant, providing strategic marketing support to a range of Silicon Valley medical device startups. Her earlier roles include executive positions at Hansen Medical, Cervel Neurotech and Siemens Medical, formerly Acuson. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Chico, and an MBA in Marketing and Management from Santa Clara University.
Gopi Kuduvalli
Senior Vice President Research and Development
Gopi Kuduvalli joined Reflexion in 2019 as vice president of product engineering, bringing over 25 years of experience in the medical device and aerospace industries. Kuduvalli heads the product management, user experience, physics, and clinical applications development functions at RefleXion and contributes to the development of the company’s flagship technology. Previously, Kuduvalli was vice president of engineering at ViewRay, leading the development of the company’s MR Linac product. Prior to this, he held several R&D management roles at Accuray, including leading its Tomotherapy engineering team. With broad experience in image-guided techniques for radiation therapy, Kuduvalli has published extensively and is a named inventor on over 30 issued patents. Kuduvalli received a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communications from the University of Mysore, India, and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Calgary, AB, Canada. He also completed the Executive Leadership Education program at the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
Jeff Holifield, J.D.
Vice President, Head of Legal
Jeff Holifield joined RefleXion in November of 2020 as vice president and head of legal with over 25 years of experience in the technology sector, including expertise in SaaS licensing, cloud-based services, marketing partnerships, regulatory compliance and manufacturing/supply chain issues. Most recently, he was associate general counsel for Nutanix, a cloud computing company. At Nutanix, Holifield led the legal transition from a hardware model to subscription. His previous tenures include positions at Microsoft, Ericsson, Sun Microsystems, Sony Electronics and CenturyLink, where he directed legal services across both consumer and enterprise businesses. He holds a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Whitman College.
Leonard Lyons
Vice President of Sales
Len Lyons comes to RefleXion with 22 years of success in radiation oncology, including separate executive roles in sales and service. Most recently, he was vice president of enterprise solutions for Elekta, where he had complete responsibility for developing an elite sales force to win key accounts and large health system opportunities. Lyons also held the positions of vice president of northwest sales, and, prior to this, director of sales during his time at Elekta. A cornerstone of Lyons’ success was his multifaceted approach encompassing relationships with strategic partners, building referral patterns, a deep understanding of buyer behavior, and identifying vertical market opportunities. Previous to Elekta, Lyons was vice president of service for IMPAC Medical Systems, where he led the integration of two large company acquisitions while exceeding sales and service goals and had responsibility for all revenues through the company’s IPO. Lyons received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Computer Studies from the University College Cork, Ireland.
Jay Janardhanan
Vice President of Software Engineering
Jay Janardhanan joined RefleXion in 2016 as director of software engineering, bringing 20 years of experience leading teams in product development and process innovation for Radiation Oncology, Medical Information Systems, and Medical Imaging products. He was promoted to vice president of software engineering in April 2022. Prior to joining RefleXion, Janardhanan worked at Varian Medical Systems, where he held leadership positions managing engineering teams in the U.S. and abroad. Most recently, he was a program manager and system integration lead working with Varian’s global team on an SRS/SBRT- focused strategic initiative, leading and coordinating the multi-phased product release. Before this, he worked in product development for Siemens Medical Solutions. Janardhanan earned a Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Mysore (India) and an MBA with an emphasis in Managing Technology and Innovation from Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business.
Leena V. Kadakia
Vice President of Regulatory Affairs
Leena Kadakia joined RefleXion in January 2020 as a principal regulatory affairs specialist and was promoted to director in January 2022 followed by vice president in November 2022. Kadakia brings over 18 years of experience in regulatory product development from initial concept to commercialization. Before joining RefleXion, Kadakia consulted for multiple healthcare companies including RefleXion, Hansen Medical, Outset Medical, VytronUS, PulmonX, Zonare, MicroCube and Auris Surgical Robotics. Before this, she held senior engineering positions at Abbott Vascular, Hansen Medical and Memry Corporation. Kadakia received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. She is Regulatory Affairs Certified (RAC) from the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society, and she is a named inventor on multiple patents.
